Kimlani Mellor is a qualified Forensic Psychologist and counselling therapist. She has more than 14 years’ experience and has worked both nationally and globally. Kimlani Mellor has divided her time between working within clinical practice and government employment. In her clinical practice, she uses an integrated therapeutic approach including techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapies (CBT and ACT).
She emphasises mindfulness concepts including non-judgement in her counselling, which she has seen to be particularly instrumental in her client work. Working on reducing resistance to unpleasant emotional experiences are integral strategies she practises with clients to increase acceptance of oneself and life’s challenges. Kimlani has a therapeutic style that is warm, understanding and encourages growth through reflection and collaboratively working to change unhealthy patterns in one’s life. She is eager to apply her experience and compassion with clients as they begin to address issues that will help them to improve their quality of life and attain a sense of fulfillment.
